Portering Services Supervisor – GRADE V – 35 hours per week – Full-time, Permanent Position

Role Overview:
St. Michael’s Hospital is seeking an experienced and motivated Porter Supervisor (Grade V) to lead and manage the hospital’s portering service. The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of portering services, ensuring a safe, efficient and high-quality service for patients, staff and visitors. The role includes deputising for the Facilities Manager as required.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage and supervise portering staff, including rostering, attendance and day-to-day operations.
• Ensure the effective delivery of patient, equipment and goods transport throughout the hospital.
• Maintain high standards of safety, hygiene, infection control and customer service.
• Monitor service performance and address issues in a timely manner.
• Support staff training, development and compliance with mandatory requirements.
• Liaise with clinical, administrative and facilities teams to support hospital operations.
• Deputise for the Facilities Manager in their absence, as required.
Requirements:
• Relevant experience in a supervisory or management role, ideally within a healthcare or facilities environment.
• Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to manage staff, resources and competing priorities effectively.
• Knowledge of health & safety, infection control and hospital support services is desirable.
• Commitment to delivering a high-quality, patient-focused service.
